Eva's Point of View
The afternoon sun shimes through the curtains of the big living room, casting warm patches of light on the floor. I sit on the plush sofa beside my grandmother, her hands knitting quietly, the rhythm of the needles soothing. I take a deep breath, feeling the weight of everything that’s happened lately, but for a moment, I feel safe.
“Eva, dear,” Grandma says, her voice soft and kind. “You’ve been through so much. You should let yourself rest.” She looks at me with those wise, loving eyes, and I can’t help but smile.
“I’m okay, Grandma,” I reply, forcing my voice to sound light. But inside, I’m not sure. “Just a little tired, that’s all.”
Grandma puts down her knitting and takes my hands in hers. “You are strong, but even the strongest need help sometimes. It’s okay to lean on family.”
Her words make me feel warm inside, like a hug wrapped around my heart. “I know,” I say, squeezing her hands back. “I’m grateful for you. I really am.”
