As my heart pounded nervously, Mom spoke at last, her voice conveying her disdain for Rose.

"H-How could she do this! What should we do now, Daisy? The invitations have been sent out. We've prepared all the wedding favors. Samuel and his family have prepared the entire wedding ceremony. How could something like this happen right at a time like this?"
