Chapter 60
Cassandra had never been away from home, and now she was about to live on campus for two whole weeks—with no one around to look after her. Of course Alexander would be worried.
Sensing his concern, Cassandra gently hooked her arm around his and smiled. “Grandpa, really, don’t worry. I’m almost eighteen—I can totally take care of myself. Besides, this is a good chance to toughen up a bit.”
“But still…” Alexander looked uneasy.
“If anything happens, I’ll call you right away, okay?” she added with a sweet smile.
She wasn’t the same girl she used to be. A couple weeks in the dorms was no big deal. Plus, the school’s environment was really nice.
Lillian had been standing upstairs, leaning on the railing, eavesdropping for a bit before making her way down.
“Oh Cassie, I heard you were placed in the North Campus?” Lillian said with a faint sigh, her tone loaded with fake pity. “I was hoping you’d get into South Campus, maybe even be in Vera’s class. She could’ve helped you with your studies.”
