I gave him a nod and helped Henry carry unconscious Andrew Anderson down the mountain to ease his load.
The trail down was rough and slick from the earlier snow. I nearly slipped a couple times since I was supporting someone, but Henry steadied me each time. “Let me handle it. You handle the flashlight.”
I didn’t argue. Letting go, I walked ahead with my phone torch on to light the path.
Back at the car, Henry stuffed Andrew into the trunk and pulled out a thick rope. I looked at him, confused, and he said as we walked, “You can’t pull someone out of water with bare hands. Gotta have a rope.”
Barely minutes after Henry managed to rent us a boat and we got onboard, I spotted Lena and Jason up at the pavilion—clearly fighting.
Jason was still a man, but with a limp, he moved awkwardly. That’s probably why he had wanted Andrew hiding nearby. With Andrew out of the picture, Jason had no choice but to act himself.
