Louise kept working, and soon, a rose petal turned crimson red.
It was clearly a static image, yet Juliet felt as though the bird might escape the embroidery and let out a loud cry at any moment. It possessed a sort of persevering, vivid vitality, as if it were a phoenix rising from the ashes and bursting forth with the brilliance of rebirth.
Juliet was stunned by the piece.
All the frustration, hatred, and self-doubt she had been feeling over the past few days were soothed at the sight of the exquisite embroidery.
"Pretty, right?" Ariane came back out with two glasses of orange juice in her hands. When she saw how enamored Juliet was, she couldn't help but smile. "Grandma, your craft deserves much more recognition!"
"I'm fine as long as it puts food on the table. Who needs all that useless recognition anyway?" Louise didn't even look up as her needle steadily pierced the cloth. "You rascal, did someone give you a hard time out there?"
