Serena was suddenly at a loss for words. Sure, she knew Connor wasn’t dating anyone, but it had never crossed her mind to wonder if someone had already taken up space in his heart. She remembered that night at Mr. Allen’s birthday party. In the shadows, Connor had been quietly smoking and talking about some “friend.” That “friend” must’ve been the person he couldn’t forget.
