Two days later, Cassie and Alex found themselves in their small apartment, the air thick with tension. Bills were spread out on the coffee table between them.
Cassie picked up a piece of paper, her brow furrowed. "Alex, did you see this therapy bill? It's $200 for one session."
Alex, sprawled on the couch, barely looked up from his phone. "So?"
"So? That's a lot of money, especially right now."
He sat up, his eyes narrowing. "What, you think it wasn't worth it?"
Cassie sighed. "That's not what I'm saying. I'm just worried about how we're going to afford this if we keep going."
"If we keep going? Sounds like you've already decided it's not worth it."
"Alex, please. Can we talk about this without fighting?"
He stood up, pacing the small living room. "Fine. Let's talk. Let's talk about how you think throwing away our relationship isn't worth $200."
Cassie's patience snapped. "That is not what I said! I'm trying to be practical here. We're both struggling financially, and—"
