Back in high school, glittery jewelry sets were incredibly popular. Every mall in the city had displays full of sparkling pieces. Most of the students at school bought them. Looking around the classroom, it was like a sea of rhinestones. Of course, I liked them too. But I never bought any. It wasn't because I couldn't afford them. I had just always been the tomboy type. People often said I acted more like one of the guys. I was afraid that if I wore something so shiny, others would laugh at me. Besides, Helen had already bought several sets. I didn't want to give her any excuse to say that I was copying her. But I loved them.
