A month ago, if Autumn had heard such cruel, heartless words from Damien, they would have shattered her. Now, she could see once again just what an utter scumbag he was. She thought back to the three years of emotional abuse, the casual coldness and neglect, and the way he had dismissed her feelings and treated her as if she did not exist. He had been able to do all of it simply because she had loved him. Now that love was gone, his words carried no weight. Autumn's gaze turned colder than his. "You claim you don't love me, yet when I want nothing more than to divorce you and sever all ties, you still insist on celebrating our anniversary. Tell me, Damien. Are you dealing with a split personality?" The chill in her eyes hit him harder than her words. The detachment in her gaze felt truer to her nature. When her eyes had once been filled with love for him, he had forgotten that she was, at heart, a cool and reserved woman. It was her love for him that had been the rare exception.
