Aria's POV
My mind raced back to that day in his office when we'd signed those papers. I'd been so desperate to escape the humiliation of Liam's betrayal that I hadn't scrutinized every clause.
"What do you mean there's no time limit?" I whispered, tilting my head back to look at him.
His arm tightened around my waist, and I could feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against my back as he continued speaking to my father.
"Mr. Jones, I understand your anger. If someone treated my daughter the way I've apparently treated Aria, I'd be furious too." His voice was calm but firm. "But I need you to know that while this marriage started unconventionally, my intentions toward your daughter have never been dishonorable."
