Mavis glanced at Nathaniel but did not say a word. Nathaniel chuckled and replied, "Made up? We didn't have a fight or anything. You're just overreacting." As he spoke, he put his arm around Mavis's waist, his actions intimate and close. Mavis was momentarily stunned by his sudden display of affection, but Nathaniel was already pulling her upstairs before she could fully react. Once they reached the bedroom, Nathaniel started tidying up the bed without saying much. Mavis stood beside him, lost in thought as she watched him work. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and it instantly brought Mavis back to reality. She hurried to open the door and found Gabrielle standing there with two maids behind her, all carrying her stuff. Gabrielle had a big smile on her face and asked, "Nate, I brought Mae's things over. Is there anything else you need me to do?" Mavis froze. She had not expected Gabrielle to be so quick! She was still processing what had just happened.
