Bella's expression soured. She realized what was off. Choking back tears, she filled in the blanks and whimpered, "If only I had listened to you. "But I was feeling too uncomfortable, so I wanted to wait for you downstairs. Who knew I'd trip and fall?" Charlie had been preoccupied with taking care of Bella at the hospital. He hadn't gone back to the hotel to find out what had happened. When he found out this was what had happened, his heart squeezed painfully for her. The suspicious aspect of what had happened was forgotten. Although Charlie was exhausted, he didn't give up on consoling her. "As I told you, this isn't your fault, so don't keep dwelling on it.
