The last person Wendy needed to see right now was someone like Elias. She stared blankly at the open door, unsure of how much time had passed.
It wasn't until Liam returned that she finally snapped out of it.
"Are you done checking? I haven't gone through everything yet. I'll go see Ms. Hurst in a bit." She instinctively stood up, a hint of guilt flickering in her eyes as she looked at him.
Liam walked over. "No need. If you're not feeling well, you can take a break. Everything over there is fine."
She nodded and sat back down, propping her head up with a hand. She was exhausted.
"Who was here just now?" he asked suddenly.
Wendy looked up, frowning. "Elias."
"What did he want?"
She shook her head and replied, "I don't know. His intentions weren't clear."
Elias claimed that he was here to apologize, but his actions seemed more like he was blaming her. He didn't seem here to cause trouble either, as his expression betrayed hesitation and regret. It was off-putting.
