Chapter 12: Stone Cold Kisses

"What took you so long?" Nico asked me when she saw me coming out of the bathroom. Her eyes kept looking at my clenched right hand, which was holding the pregnancy test I had just used. I knew that she must have realized that something was wrong with me. Nico had been very close to me since middle school. I felt that there was nothing to hide from her. I calmly opened my hand and let her see the two eye-catching red bars. "Is this the baby of you and Edmond, who you told me about before?" Nico asked me. "Yes," I replied. "Does he know?" Nico asked me again. I couldn't answer for a moment and just stood there. Nico came over and hugged me. She was shorter and could only hug my waist, not my shoulders, which was not a good position for comfort, but I felt the warmth of her body. Nico was not wearing any complicated perfume. Instead, she smelled of clothes detergent. It was very reassuring. I couldn't help but tell her what I had experienced during my time away. My mind was a mess, and I didn't have my usual sense of logic when I talked to her. But fortunately, Nico understood my words very well. "Liana, you're not in love with Edmond, are you?" Nico asked suddenly. Her words hit me so hard that I was a little overwhelmed. Falling in love with Edmond? No way! He was so cold and heartless, cruel even. "Wait a minute and think about it, you can think about your feelings towards him. You feel warm and at ease because of Edmond's thoughtfulness towards you, but you also feel sad because of his coldness. You care a lot about his attitude towards you. Isn't that because you like him? That's how I feel about my boyfriend," Nico told me. As Nico said, I really cared about Edmond, and I longed for him to be close to me. I thought, Could it be just an illusion? Could it be that this was all my fantasy? My mind was a mess. I touched my belly, where a little life was being birthed. I smiled. I seemed to have the answer… Ring, ring, ring. The phone rang. It was Hank. I reluctantly picked up the phone, and a voice that disgusted me came from the other end of the line. "Liana, my baby. I really miss you. Where are you?" Hank asked me. There was no point in lying to Hank, so I told him I was at Nico's house and gave him Nico's address under questioning. He asked me again when I was going back. No matter what, I would not go back today. I did not want to be with this old man, and I didn't want to face Edmond. "Tomorrow," I answered him and hung up. The next day, a luxury car pulled up in front of Nico's house. I thought it might be Hank. He would never allow me to stay anywhere else for long. He would not let me out of his control. However, it was Edmond who came out of the car. Reflexively, I fled toward the room, but a large, strong hand grabbed my arm. "Why do you want to leave, Liana?" Edmond smiled at me. The morning sun shone from behind him at just the right angle, making him look like a god. Edmond naturally put his arm around my waist and led me to the car. He opened the door for me. He even smiled and said goodbye to Nico. He was now so thoughtful and close to me as if he was not the one who ignored me two days ago... "Why did you come to pick me up?" I asked him as I sat in the passenger seat. If he could give me a reasonable explanation, I definitely wouldn't argue with him about what had happened two days ago. "Hank asked me to come." Edmond's answer was very official. "Then you can leave." I opened the car door and was about to get out. But Edmond stopped me. He grabbed my left hand, moved closer to me, and wrapped me in his arms. Then there was a click, and he was buckling my seat belt. I got even angrier and struggled to get out, but Edmond had already started the car. His left hand was on the steering wheel, and the other was holding my hand tightly. "Bastard, let go of me!" I yelled. "Calm down," Edmond replied. Sh*t! This guy was so strong that I couldn't break his grip no matter how hard I tried, so he just held my hand and drove. Soon, the car drove to Hank's door. Edmond's hand that was clutching mine was already a little sweaty. He let go of my hand. There was already a circle of red marks on my wrist. Edmond gently rubbed my wrist. However, I ignored his kindness. I went to push the door open and wanted to get out of the car, but I realized that the door was locked by him. "Why... were you angry just now?" Edmond asked me. I thought, Why am I angry? Why don't you ask yourself what you've done? But I did not answer him. "I apologize to you. You tell me why. It's my fault," Edmond coaxed me. "Don't you ever come back if you can!" I tilted my head to the side, not wanting to look at Edmond. "Humph." I heard Edmond chuckle softly. "So you missed me," he said. "No, I didn't!" Who would miss such an annoying person? I still didn't look at him. However, Edmond reached over and cupped my chin, forcing me to look at him. I was still angry and simply closed my eyes so I couldn't see him. The next moment, my mouth was covered by two soft lips. My eyes widened in shock. I pushed Edmond and hit his shoulders, trying to push him away, but he kissed me passionately. Every now and then, he would pull away and quickly put his lips back on mine. His eyes were closed, his eyelashes fluttering. I was a little intoxicated for a moment. I had to admit that I liked the way Edmond was captivated by me. It was not that a woman wanted to show her charm, but I felt that Edmond should be like this. He should have been submissive to me and moved for me alone. Instinctively, I responded to him. His beard looked as if it hadn't been shaved in days. Short stubble sprouted and rubbed affectionately against my chin. It was prickly but incredibly sexy. I almost couldn't help myself. The car window was not closed, and I could see the view outside when I opened my eyes during the kiss. The sky was blue, and the clouds were a mass like cotton that had been deliberately placed in the sky. I was dizzy from the kiss and felt like I was on these cotton-like clouds. Suddenly, a bright pink color appeared in my blurry vision. It was a woman in a long pink dress. She was of medium height but very hot. Wasn't that Irene? She came out the door and walked towards us. It wouldn't be good if she saw us. I bit the tip of Edmond's tongue, hoping to attract his attention. However, he only glanced sideways at Irene without any emotion. Edmond continued to kiss my lips, his tongue going even deeper. I wanted to talk. I wanted to break away. I didn't want Irene to bump into us like this. "Mmmm... mm..." However, as soon as I opened my mouth, all those words turned into moans. And the atmosphere in the small car became filled with my moans. Irene kept approaching us. One step, two steps... The distance between us was already less than 20 feet, and she could see us as long as she turned sideways. I held my breath, not daring to make any noise. I silently prayed to the Moon Goddess in my heart that Irene would not turn her head. However, the Moon Goddess did not seem to bless me this time. Irene turned around and was about to see the passionate scene between Edmond and me through the car window. What should I do?
