Chapter 168
Allison's POV
I stepped out of the car, offering Liam my warmest smile. "Drive carefully. And about dinner, just think about it a little more..."
Before I could finish, Liam revved the engine and sped off, leaving me choking on exhaust fumes.
*Typical alpha behavior*, I thought bitterly. This man's personality was as harsh as his jawline.
I adjusted my bag and walked the remaining distance to my office building. Calling it a "company" would be generous—it was really just a small creative studio with barely twenty employees. But it was mine. Or at least, I worked there.
As I walked in, the atmosphere felt heavier than usual. My colleagues moved around like zombies, their energy completely drained. I settled at my desk and turned to my best friend.
"What's going on, Nicole?" I asked.
Nicole was about my age, with a stylish pixie cut that framed her face perfectly. She'd married a lawyer and had what most would consider the perfect life.
"You picked a great day to come back," she sighed.
