Chapter 103:Sacred Claims
(Nathan's POV)
My pulse quickened the moment Scarlett reached for her phone. A knot of dread tightened in my chest as her delicate fingers danced over the screen, her expression unreadable.
"Let me call him," Scarlett said, her voice calm but firm, almost indifferent. And then she did the one thing I feared the most—she put Roman Thorne on speakerphone.
Panic swirled within me, but I forced myself to remain composed. I had to. My pack's survival might very well depend on it.
The line rang once. Twice. And then—too soon—his voice came through, dark and commanding.
"Little wolf," Roman’s voice was deceptively calm, carrying an undertone so sharp it could cut through steel. "What is it?"
Scarlett, unfazed, spoke with surprising ease. "Roman, Nathan came to collect the amulet you threw out. Apparently, it was given to me by mistake."
