Chapter ten.
Bella’s POV.
I gulped, my heart pounding in my chest. I cursed myself inwardly for not having kept a closer eye on Kaden. I followed Devon's gaze to where my son was standing, his face emotionless, While Kaden’s pouted, he wanted to move but I shook my head and he understood.
The resemblance between them was undeniable, and I could tell that Devon had noticed it. I cleared my throat, trying to distract him, but he remained fixated on Kaden. I could feel the tension in the air, like a thick fog that refused to lift. I could only hope that this encounter would end without incident.
Devon took a step towards Kaden, and I quickly blocked his path, raising my hands in a defensive gesture.
"What do you want?" I asked, my voice shaking with fear. Devon's eyes remained fixed on Kaden, and he did not reply.
"Who is he?" he finally asked, his voice cold and threatening. I felt my heart pounding in my chest, my mind racing.
