We were cornered, unable to shield ourselves from the relentless assault. Yet, it was unbearable to sit idle and watch our teammates sacrifice themselves in vain.
“I have an idea,” I said, wiping the cold sweat from my forehead. “It’s risky, maybe even foolish, but it’s all I’ve got.”
“What is it?” Dorothy asked, her expression laced with both hope and concern.
“The Quicksand Fog… it’s a form of energy, right?”
“Yes,” Dorothy replied cautiously. “It’s a mist formed from the discarded elements of history. But why are you asking? What are you thinking?”
I met her gaze, the determination in my eyes unwavering. “I’m thinking of consuming it.”
