**Kaya’s POV**
The forest, as it greeted the early morning, held a heavy dampness in the air. It was a stark contrast to the dry expanses of the plains I had left behind. A cool stream of dew seeped into the bottoms of my pants, and with it, a wave of memories flooded my mind. It was as if time itself had unwound, and I found myself standing in the distant past, as a little girl once again. I remembered trailing behind my mother, who had been on a business trip, as we approached the edge of the mysterious elf forest.
Back then, everything was different. I had been so young, so innocent. I could barely understand the world around me, yet I had questions about things that seemed beyond my grasp. I distinctly remembered my mother pointing to a faint silhouette on the horizon, a barely visible guard tower beyond the trees. She had told me it was the werewolves’ territory. My curiosity had been piqued, and I had asked, "Is father over there? When will he be back?"
