Chapter 581 You Did It On Purpose?

The room was pitch black. Anthony was chained to the wall and was covered in blood. It was clear that he had been tortured. The door opened, then shut. Anthony opened his eyes and saw Jonathan walk in. He felt a little disappointed but managed to ask through gritted teeth, “Where is she?” Jonathan sneered. “You’re so stupid. Jocelyn died ages ago. You hadn’t even seen Jocelyn in the flesh. How could you trust Elijah so easily and betray Tammy because of his lies? Do you have no shame?” Anthony shut his eyes. “I’ve wronged Miss Moore…” Jonathan motioned with his hand for two bodyguards to come forward. They unchained Anthony from the wall. “Since you’ve betrayed Tammy, you deserve to die. However, you can’t die on Tammy’s turf. I’m going to send you off to a deserted island and leave you to fend for yourself!” With that, he spun on his heel and left. The bodyguards brought Anthony to a private jet, then flew him to the deserted island. There was no possibility of him reappearing in Tamara’s sight after this. Tamara did not know all of this was happening. After all, Anthony had hurt her. She despised him. She knew that she would never be able to forgive him. As such, it would be best if they never saw each other anymore. Tamara was watching TV in the living room in the evening when a maid approached her. “Miss Moore, Mr. Gladwell has come by again.” James Gladwell? Tamara blinked, then got up. “Alright, I’ll go to him.” She wanted to invite James inside but knew she would be chastised if she did. She decided not to do it after further consideration. Standing by the door, James wore a white suit, and the branded car behind him had its lights on. He resembled a white knight in shiny armor at that very moment. He seemed to exude nothing but elegance and refinement. “What are you doing here?” Tamara gazed at him curiously. James smiled gently. “I’m here to treat you to a meal. Do you have time for that now?” Tamara was taken aback. A look of hesitation flashed across her exquisite face. “I…” “I just meant that since we’re still friends, it might be fun to reminisce about our times together. We haven’t seen each other for four years now. I just gave Margot a call as well. She’s already on her way.” When James saw that Tamara seemed hesitant, he added in a warm tone. It turned out that Margot would be around as well. Tamara let out a sigh of relief. “Alright. Give me a moment to get changed.” James nodded. “Okay.” After she changed and got into his car, James drove them to a restaurant and stopped at its entrance. Margot was already there when they reached, chatting with the male attendant. “Margot.” Tamara called out after getting out of the car. Margot turned back and saw that her friend had arrived together with James. She asked, “Mr. Gladwell, what’s the meaning of this? You told me to get here by myself, yet you went out of your way to pick up Tammy? This is blatant favoritism!” She cast James a meaningful look. Meanwhile, Tamara looked beyond awkward. “It’s because I live too far away. Stop spouting nonsense! Let’s just head inside.” Tamara urged Margot forward by her waist. Margot scoffed, then did as she was told. The three settled into their seats. The server walked over to hand them the menu. James pushed the menu toward Margot and Tamara, then said, “Ladies first.” Margot was happy to oblige. She ordered a number of items, then glanced over at Tamara. “What do you feel like eating?” Tamara shrugged. “You can pick for me.” Margot passed James the menu. “We’re done. Your turn, Mr. Gladwell.” James looked over at the server. “I’ll have what they’re having.” “Alright.” Margot’s charming, sly eyes shone with some glee. She swept her gaze over James’ face and asked, “Mr. Gladwell, don’t you think Tammy has gotten even prettier than before?” James nodded and hummed in agreement. Tamara glared at Margot. “Are you here to stir up trouble?” Margot put on an innocent look. “No way! I’m just telling the truth. Gosh, if you don’t like it, I’ll shut up. Excuse me. I need the washroom.” Then, she got up and left. An awkward tension filled the air. At this moment, Tamara felt a hostile gaze fixed on her. It caused her hair to stand on end.
