Chapter 4 Leave!
After she refused that he should be married to Pamela, he went ahead and proposed to her publicly. Proposing to his ex wife?
What was he trying to prove then, that he hadn't backed off with his relationship with her? That he would go ahead and be with the toxic woman?
If Louis dares her, she would disown him!
Ellis stared at the news on social media. Louis Hayden, President of the Hayden's cooperation in love with Pamela Grayson, the President of the Hayden's annex cooperation.
That's amazing. That's sweet. He loves it. His son was going public with his love and relationship with the woman he loves.
That's the evidence that a man is in love. His son is experiencing what it means to be in love. This happiness is what everyone should experience and live with.
He hadn't stopped being in love with Leah. That love made him overlook a few excesses and ignore things he normally would find offensive.
That is the same thing Louis is experiencing that he's forgotten the few times Pamela Grayson and himself had crossed each other.
He only hopes that Leah sees through the face into Louis' heart. He loves Pamela a lot and is ready to be married again to her. She should close her eyes and mind to the events of the past and envision the happy future that awaits Louis and Pamela and their lovely kids.
Miranda Alvan's eyes went dark as she watched the short video clip of Louis' proposal to Pamela. That could have been her. She should have been the woman getting that expensive ring from Louis as his fiance.
But that woman outsmarted her. She's known Louis for years and has had a crush on him for as long as she had known. But he deliberately refused to notice it.
What can she do to split them apart? It is too hard for her to see Louis settle with another woman other than her. What can she do now, she must think of an idea.
When they arrived at Middletown City, Pamela insisted that they land in the vast compound of the royal house.
This was the first time Louis was stepping a foot on the soil of the royal house. As he descended from the helicopter, he carried his daughter and walked behind Pamela and their boys.
Bodyguards surrounded the helicopter when it landed. But seeing it's the princess and the royal kids that arrived, they bowed slightly before Pamela.
"Welcome princess of the Middletown royal family" the bodyguards chorused. They saw the boys next and then Louis behind with the little princess.
"Thank you" Pamela answered flippantly and then asked "Where are my parents?" She asked. She wasn't regarded as a granddaughter in the royal house. She was regarded as Clarion and Tarvan's daughter.
"In the mourning hall" One of the bodyguards answered. Pamela nodded and glanced back at Louis before saying "we need to join them in the mourning hall"
Louis said okay, placing Dora on her feet. The little girl ran off along with her brothers towards the magnificent royal house.
"Go after the kids and ensure they stay safe with the grand nanny" Pamela instructed one of the bodyguards and he nodded.
"Okay, princess" the bodyguard answered and immediately went after the kids.
Louis' eyes went after his kids as they ran freely. They had been used to the royal house before returning to Oak city. He hopes they stay safe and away from harm.
Pamela glanced at Louis and saw him staring at their kids. She tucked him and the latter looked away from the kids and set his gaze on her.
"Let's go" she said and Louis nodded, holding her hands, he intertwined his fingers with hers. It's getting dark already and they have travelled for hours.
But what is important is what awaits them, especially Pamela since she wasn't wearing a wedding band. He needs to stand up to her defence and assure her royal parents that he loves her and they would be getting married soon.
Pamela glanced up at Louis and smiled. She led the way and Louis followed.
They arrived at the mourning hall and it was packed full. The people present were dignitaries and their appearance and the clothes they wore spell wealth and prosperity.
When Pamela and Louis walked in, heads turned in their direction. Then eyes travelled to their intertwined hands.
Without sparing anyone a glance, Pamela walked over to where her great grandfather's casket was placed.
Louis untwined their hands and stood by Clarion's side. The older woman glanced at Louis and smiled. She nodded in acknowledgement of his presence and Louis bowed slightly.
Pamela stood and looked at her great grandfather's remains and her tears ran down her cheeks. "Great grandfather, why didn't you wait for me to return?" She asked, sobbing profusely.
Clarion sniffled when she heard Pamela's words, bringing her tears to run down her cheeks afresh. Father in-law Jimmy Johnson didn't wait for her indeed.
Pamela was now talking to her great grandfather quietly. She sniffled and sobbed quietly.
Louis went to her and hugged her to his side, bringing her to sit by his side. Tarvan Johnson was quiet but glad that his granddaughter was present.
She would be crowned the princess and the future heir to the throne. At least she came with Louis. It means they are now married. Louis is someone he knows and is confident about.
A lot of people talked about the late King and his generosity. He was a man of great virtue and loved by its citizens.
Eventually, the mourning was over. The laying in wait will be done the next day. Everyone left, leaving only the royal family behind.
"I want to be alone with my great grandfather. I am keeping a vigil here by his side" Pamela declared, not talking to her grandparents but to Louis.
Louis was going to tell her that he would be staying up with her when Tarvan Johnson asked "Are you both married now?"
There was a sudden silence descending in the hall. Pamela froze, standing with her back to her grandparents and Louis.
This is the question she had prayed silently in her heart not to be asked. What is she going to say? Afraid what her grandfather's words would be, she sighed, stilled her heart and turned gently to face them.
"Louis Hayden, are you married to Pamela now?" Tarvan asked, now directing his question to Louis. Since his granddaughter suddenly lost her ability to talk, he asked Louis. At least he should be able to answer him.
"No,"Louis Hayden answered.
"You are not welcome here. So leave and take Pamela along with you" Tarvan Johnson declared. His countenance changed and his words seemed to backed up with an authority that Louis had never experienced with him before.
"We will be getting married soon. Please let Pamela mourn her great…Louis was trying to plead when Tarvan Johnson thundered.
"My words are law and you will do exactly as I have said. Now leave" he ordered.
Pamela Grayson was shocked. Will grandfather not tolerate Louis at all? He can't order them out like some commoners.
"Grandfather.." Pamela said when Tarvan Johnson turned to her "You listen to me Pamela, you cease to be a member of this royal family until you get married and bring your husband to be initiated into the book of the chronicles of the princes.
Until then, you can't use my last name and you can't step foot here again. Take your boyfriend and get out. You are not welcome here"
Clarion shivered. Pamela has an engagement ring on. She and Louis must definitely have begun a relationship. They need to let it grow and then get married.
No one expected Jimmy Johnson to die soon. Since Louis Hayden had accompanied her, it only means that he is in love with her now.
But she cannot say anything to her husband now. It's not in her place to advise or make a suggestion to him before outsiders. If there's anything, it would be in the enclosed door of their bedroom.
"With all due respect sir, I think Pamela should be allowed…" Louis was still soliciting when Tarvan lost his temper.
"You don't banter words with me, Louis Hayden. This is Middletown City where a breath of mine must be followed with obedience and respect.
If you dare to say a single word again, I will have you thrown into the dungeon and I will forget you there, forever!"
