Chapter 1018 You Think Too Much

It would not be bad to involve Deirdre anyway. Could it be that she did not have a right to know about her condition? Or was Emily creating an opportunity to spend time with Brendan on purpose? Deirdre indulged in wild conjectures, and her head began hurting without her noticing. She was worried that she was being overly sensitive. She was more afraid that what she speculated was true because she would be utterly powerless in this situation. When Brendan and Emily’s conversation ended, Brendan’s gaze landed on Deirdre, and his eyebrows furrowed tightly in concern at the sight of Deirdre’s slightly pale face. “Mr. Brighthall, I think that we will need to figure out a way to deal with the blood clot in Miss McKinnon’s brain. If you’re free tomorrow, we can go out together and get a second opinion on the brain CT scan. I have a colleague. He…” Emily spoke endlessly for a long time and raised her head only to discover that Brendan’s gaze was already stuck on Deirdre. Her breathing sounded irregular, and her hand clutching the report was tightening ever so slightly. She smiled and said, “Mr. Brighthall, are you listening to me?” Brendan was jolted back to reality and said, “I’m sorry. What did you say again?” “I was saying that you can join me tomorrow when I show Miss McKinnon’s brain CT scan to my senior colleague for a second opinion. If I can verify my diagnosis, we can begin treatment by oral medicine first.” Brendan frowned. “If that is the case, won’t it be fine for you to show the CT scan to your senior colleague? Why do I have to go?” Emily was already prepared to give the excuse. “So we can look into the treatment options together. You’re Miss McKinnon’s lover, so you should be clear every step of the way.” Brendan kept quiet for a moment and nodded. “Sure, get in touch with me by then.” Upon saying that, he got up and sat next to Deirdre on the sofa. Deirdre was still caught in a daze. By the time she was jolted back to reality, her chin was already tilted. Brendan refrained from the urge with great effort and pushed away the stray hair on her face. “What’s going on? You look sick. Are you feeling unwell?” Deirdre lowered her head. “No. Aren’t you talking with Miss Collins? Why are you here?” “We’re done with the discussion.” “What did you talk about? How’s my condition currently?” Brendan raised his head. “You’re unaware of your condition?” Deirdre felt as if a rock weighed down her chest. “Miss Collins didn’t tell me anything after she received the examination report, so I have utterly no idea what is going on with myself.” Brendan could hear the frustration and helplessness in her voice. He placed his hand on her arm, and his hand slid down to her hand. “She didn’t want you to concern yourself too much.” Deirdre took a deep breath and mustered the courage to speak. “Don’t you think I will only concern myself more under such circumstances? I’m worried whether my eyes can be cured and whether my condition has worsened again. “If she didn’t have the time to talk to me, why wouldn’t she allow me to join in during the discussion with you?” Deirdre finally voiced out the doubt in her heart, but she felt embarrassed after saying that. She wondered if she was being overly sensitive. Brendan was stunned for a moment as well. It was his first time seeing Deirdre behaving in this manner. Her eyebrows were tightly furrowed when she talked about her confusion. He smiled when he was jolted back to reality. “How are you so adorable?” Deirdre choked on her words. “I’m not joking with you, Brendan.” “I know. I’m not joking with you either, but I really find you to be adorable.” Brendan held her hand and kissed her fingers. “However, Miss Collins doesn’t have any other intentions. Your condition is the same as before. You still have a blood clot in your brain. She wants to discuss the best method to treat your condition so she can lower the side effects of the treatment as much as possible.”
