Chapter 12 MIXED FEELINGS

REYNOLD For a werewolf, finding their mate was the best thing that could ever happen to them, but for Lycan King Reynold, it seemed to be a different story entirely. He had thought having a mate would complete him, but from the day he left white snow pack, his emptiness and loneliness grew worse. His supposed mate wasn't what he wished she would be, and to top it all, she had completely brought nothing but shame and disgrace to him. In times when he needed her, she was either partying with the mateless she wolves or going to one club or another; she didn't act as a Luna should. Reynold had tried to understand her by giving her the benefit of the doubt that this behaviour was due to her being in a different environment, but that seemed to be wrong. Whenever he called her to attend business meetings with him so she could be by his side as his Luna, she would always give excuses not to attend. This had brought him immense sadness and sorrow; sometimes she slept out without giving good reasons why she did. He had thought her twin was the badly behaved one, but seeing his mate act this way, he wondered if they both had the same way of life, but he didn't find out well enough. When she took out time to visit his company, she brought forth problems by shouting at his models for either seducing him or trying to take over her position. Victoria wasn't concerned about how she would be seen. Several articles had carried reports about her doing things she shouldn't, and he couldn't count how many report companies he had to pay to bring down pages about her. He had sued so many companies that refused to listen to him, and the case files kept piling up on the table as the day passed. "Brother, I don't think she's your mate." Aria said to him, with a gloomy face. "What makes you say that Aria?" He asked while he stopped what he was doing on his desk in his study room. Aria chewed on her lips like she always did whenever she wasn't happy. Reynold went over to his sister, he held her by the shoulder as he heaved a long sigh. "Let's try to understand her, okay, I'm sure she will come around." "I don't think so, brother; I'm sure she's the bad twin!" Reynold instantly became perplexed by what Aria had said. This was the first time he had seen his sister this furious. Even when she told him the first time she saw Victoria that she didn't like her, he thought she was just being jealous. Over the years, she had never spoken of it again, despite how drastically Victoria had changed. Seeing her say the same words after five years was shocking; he thought his sister had come to understand his mate. "Don't say that Aria, I'm sure when you get to find your mate, you will understand better." "That's the issue brother; our mates are supposed to make us feel special and loved." "But Victoria, sorry to say, I can't call her my Luna or Queen, she's done nothing but make you sad." Aria blurted it out in anger. Reynold didn't know what to say to his sister to convince her. After all, the girl was all grown up, she's no longer that kid that he could easily convince. Getting to his room, he thought of what to do to keep her away from this life she had suddenly gotten used to. Could it be that his sister was really right? He remembered that when he saw Vega, she looked calm, not as she was described to be. This was scary; if it so happened that he misjudged this sister's, then he had no one to blame but himself, but that should not be the case. He had heard Vega had run away from home soon after he left with Victoria, her actions didn't seem like what a good daughter would do. Reynold was focusing more of his attention on his business now. Over the years, Alpha Blake's men couldn't help in tracking the enemies down, and they have quit for years now. Not that he would let them be because he was still on the lookout for them, but he decided to do more with his time and focus on his business too. The growing number of companies trying to partner with him was frightening. Some time ago, he rejected the Glitters modelling company because the models they brought to him were lackeys. Though it was his fault, he had asked them to improve and get back to him, and now the CEO was coming himself to market his company. From the information gathered, he heard this CEO was a Rogue Alpha. How daring this Rogue Alpha was that he decided to go come to him personally for a business deal. As curious as Reynold had always been, he decided to set up a meeting with this rogue. When it came to meetings, he was always punctual to meet his guests; this was a norm for him, and so he waited patiently for them in his meeting hall. Suddenly, he felt a sharp stabbing pain in his chest. This had been happening to him ever since he perceived the smell of roses and plums, and unfortunately, that same scent that pulled him to his mate was no more. It was strange that his mate could easily stop having the scent that attracted him to her. Reynold could hear the voice of the rogue outside, perhaps asking a lady if she was okay, but strangely, he couldn't perceive the scent of this woman. Who was she? The last person he knew who was scentless was... Vega, his mate's sister. Just as he was thinking about his mate's sister, the rogue came to him with a woman by his side. Reynold took a quick glance at the woman, but what he saw made him pale instantly. At first, he wanted to growl at the filthy rogue who was holding his wife, but this woman in front of him was different. She originally had dark long hair like this woman in front of him, but she had made her hair shorter and changed its colour to blonde. This Lady looked like the original version of his wife. He stared into her eyes, and they were the same green colour as Victoria's. Reynold's mind had suddenly become a mess; so many thoughts were going through his head. Wait, why was he forgetting that his wife had a twin? What the fuck! Could this be Vega? "Greetings your Highness." Rafael greeted as he looked strangely at Reynold, who seemed to be in thought. Reynold immediately pushed his thoughts behind him as he realised the rogue in front of him had said his greetings to him. "Oh, You are welcome, Mr...." "It's Rafael" "Yea, Rafael." Reynold took a quick glance at the woman he suspected was Vega. "And this beautiful lady, beside you, is..." "Vega, she's my assistant," Rafael said holding Vega tightly, who seemed to be trembling so badly. Suddenly something in Reynold changed; he could not describe this feeling he was having. Seeing the rogue alpha holding Vega so tightly sent his wolf into rage. How come? How did she get here? From the look of things, it seemed this rogue Alpha had never met Victoria because if he had, he saw no reason why he would have brought her here or better, yet maybe he knew from the start. "Greetings, your Highness," Vega said with the little composure she had left. He just stared at her, so many questions in his head to ask her. Why she left the pack, what she had been doing all these years, and why the hell she was with a rogue. The meeting took a little while, but not without Reynold stealing glances at Vega, whereas Vega focused her attention either on her fingers, or at Rafael; not once did she take a glance at him. He was beginning to be uncomfortable because his wolf just wouldn't stop raging in his head. "So I'm offering you half of my company for your ownership before the time at which our company will partner." Rafael said to him. Reynold raised an eyebrow at the rogue. Was this the rogue's plan? To offer him partial rights to his company? That wasn't what he wanted at all. In fact, he wasn't concerned about Rafael's damn company, what he cared about was the woman beside him. He had a lot to ask her, and he wouldn't just let her disappear without a trace again. He remembered when Alpha Blake informed him that his second daughter was missing. At first, they thought she had been kidnapped, and so they searched for her for over a year. When they found no trace or information about her, Alpha Blake visited his daughter's room to look for anything that could lead him to his daughter's disappearance, only for him to find out that she had run away and not been kidnapped like they had thought. Knowing what she did had made him develop some kind of hatred for her; now she shows up with a rogue? Truly, she was really the ruthless daughter of Alpha Blake. Seeing her act all innocent only made his blood boil. One would think she was innocent, but deep down, she happened to be a worse nightmare. "Uhm, Alpha Rafael, your offer is okay, but I think I want something else." This made both Alpha, Rafael shoot him a quick glance. "What could that be, your Highness?" Rafael asked impatiently and curiously. "Well, you will have to promise to give me what I request first." The rogue looked at him carefully, confused. "Well, I think I can only promise you when I know what your request is all about." Alpha Reynold smirked at Rafael's statement. He knew how important this partnership was to him, and considering the fact that he had never accepted any company in the last five years, Reynold was sure Rafael would do anything to get this partnership deal. "Okay, I just need only one request, and that is that you give me your personal secretary." Reynold said blatantly without batting an eye. His statement made both Rafael and Vega shoot him a quick glance. He could see how panicked Vega had suddenly become, seeing how the colours in her eyes had drained. "With all due respect, I beg to take that as a joke, your Highness." Rafael said sternly. "It's your choice to take my words for a joke, but if you really need this partnership, I don't see how this is hard." "Unless you are not being sincere about her being your assistant," He said, raising a suspicious brow at Rafael. The rogue swallowed hard, obviously not expecting things to turn out this way. How could he even think he would be enticed by having a partial share of his company, he might as well buy his whole company? "Your Highness, can you give me time to think about this?" Rafael asked as he stared at Vega, whose lips were beginning to shiver. Reynold suddenly had the thought of going over to take her lips so they would stop shivering. Seeing her lips shivering was doing funny things to his system. What the hell is wrong with him? He immediately shook off the dirty thought that clouded his mind. He thought he must have been crazy to be thinking of doing such a thing to his mate's twin. Strangely enough, he's never had such a strong pull towards his mate as he was having now towards Vega. This was dangerous because he had never had sex for five years, not with his mate or any other woman. Whenever he tried to have sex with his mate, he kept having that stabbing pain in his heart, and for that reason, he avoided having sexual contact with Victoria. This was another reason he was trying to understand her, maybe she felt frustrated with him for not making love to her, and so she decided to drown her sorrows by acting rebellious.
