Chapter 13 BROKEN TRUST

VEGA Vega could not believe her ears—did the Lycan Alpha just request to have her in his company? This can't be; when she saw how he looked at her, she could tell that those eyes held hate for her, but for what reason? She wondered. When Rafael and her were leaving the company, it was as though the company employees had just seen her for the first time; some glared at her, while others looked very surprised. She shivered badly, she never expected things to end up this way, never thought he would make her the bargaining chip for a partnership with Rafael. When they finally got outside, Rafael pounded his fist so hard on his car. "You knew, didn't you?" She asked Rafael between shivers. He didn't say anything but heaved a sigh. She moved closer to him, and anger surged through her system. "You knew I have a twin and that twin is his Luna." Rafael just stared at her with a guilty expression. "I'm so sorry, Vega, this wasn't how I planned for things to turn out." But this statement further annoyed her, how could she have been so stupid and not notice? Someone as intelligent as Rafael. She should have known that he must have found out things about her. "So what are you going to do now? Give me away like some cheap stock, I guess." Vega said, smiling as tears ran down her cheeks. "No, no, I would never do that, I swear." "This is all my fault, if I wasn't so blinded by wanting to make a deal with his company, this wouldn't have happened." He said in a rush, seeing how angry Vega had become. "I trusted you Rafael, I thought you treated me with sincerity too." Vega held her head as it ached badly. "You should have at least told me this was your plan!" More tears poured down her cheeks at the realisation that she was just a bargaining chip between two Alphas. Rafael surely disliked her, as he claimed, while the other was mated to his sister. Wasn't the moon goddess being too cruel to her? How was she to shoulder all these pains? Her father hated her; her sister did too, and now the only person she trusted tried to use her for his own selfish gain. Meanwhile, Reynold was watching them through his window, from what he observed, he could tell that they were having problems. Good, things couldn't get any better for him now. He immediately called for his secretary to call Stanley into his office. Within seconds, Stanley was there. "Come take a look, Stan." Stanley walked towards the window to see what his Alpha wanted him to see, Stanley opened his eyes wide in shock at what he saw. "What is our Luna doing with rogue Alpha Rafael?" Reynold smirked at Stanley. "She's not my Luna, but her twin." "What! You mean the one who ran away?" "Exactly, now I want you to do something for me." "At your service, your Highness." "Follow them; I want to know where she lives and who she lives with." "Noted, but can I know why we are doing this?" Stanley asked, seemingly confused, and this only made him receive a glare from Reynold. "Oops! Sorry, I'm on it." Stanley said before bolting out of his office. Now he felt satisfied with his plans, strangely he had no idea why he was this happy. It felt as though he had come alive again. Rafael took Vega home, but they never spoke a word to each other. Rafael knew he had offended Vega so greatly. She wouldn't believe him if he told her what his initial plan was. He found out two years ago about Victoria. At first, when he saw her, he thought it was Vega, and he approached her. He called her Vega, but she rather looked at him strangely. "You know my sister?" she asked. This got him perplexed because Vega never told him she had a twin sister. The only thing he knew about her was that she ran away from her pack for reasons she could not tell anyone. He was curious to know the real reason behind her running away from her pack, but because he had been captivated by her the first time he saw her, he never bothered to dig deep into her history for fear that she might run away from his pack if she knew. Meeting her twin at a party he attended was shocking, but it didn't take long for Victoria to tell him everything he needed to know about Vega. Though the part where she told him about Vega being the bad she-wolf of the family kind of took him by surprise, he didn't have to be told twice that her sister and father's hatred for her was the reason she ran away. He felt so sad for Vega, but he never asked her about it. It was also through Victoria that he learned that Reynold happened to be her mate. This was where he started planning for his meeting with Reynold; he had originally thought taking Vega with him would make the Lycan king consider his company, coupled with the partial right he promised to give him. Who would have thought that his plans would only make the Lycan king request Vega, which was strange? He had messed things up, and he couldn't help but be wary of the fact that Vega might never trust him again and even request to leave his company, after all she was old enough to make her own choices now. When Vega got home, she lazily went straight to her bedroom, not realising Sandy was in the sitting room. She dropped herself on her bed without pulling off her dress or shoes, all she thought about now was how to get away from this problem in which she had found herself. "Why do you look so down, Vega?" Sandy said as she approached her bed. "It seems the date or whatever it was didn't have a happy ending." "I feel so horrible now," Vega said as she sat up straight on the bed. "Do you wanna talk about it?" Vega shook her head as tears threatened to run out of her eyes again. "It's okay, you will be fine." Sandy cooed as she held Vega in a tight embrace. The next day, Vega woke up early which was very strange, only one thing was on her mind, and that was to resign from Rafael's company. She wasn't going to run away without telling him, just like she did some years ago. Now she would take her fate into her own hands. She couldn't let the likes of Reynold or Rafael take her for granted, she's done acting all weak when her true identity wasn't that of a weak wolf. She took a taxi down to the company without waiting for her friend. She's having the feeling that the Lycan Alpha would not leave things as they are, but before that happens, she would do herself the favour of getting away from the company. That way she would no longer become the item to which they would become partners. "I want to resign from your company, Alpha Rafael," Vega said boldly. This made his expression change to that of panic. "Where will you go?" "Anywhere, so long as it isn't your company or the Lycan King's." "Vega, please don't leave. I regret ever taking advantage of your identity, but please you don't leave." "You don't understand, I'm doing this for me, do you think he would partner with you if I do not report to his company?" "I've thought about it, believe me Vega, I won't let you go, nor will I partner with him." Rafael didn't understand what was going on at all, she wasn't just leaving for this, she was leaving for herself too. It's a given that Lycan King would not let her go, he would surely tell her sister about where she works. Knowing how Victoria's mind works, it wouldn't take long before she came looking for her in the company, and to make things worse, she would make ridicule of her and probably let everyone believe she was an ingrate since she left the park. She couldn't let herself go through the same thing again, at least not for now, she had to look for a way to stand on her own first. Leaving Rafael's company was the best option right now. She left the company after telling Rafael her mind, she was determined to go farther away from them where they would never find her. Just as she was about to take a taxi back home, a flashy car suddenly pulled up in front of her. Her heart raced, why was she having the gut feeling that the car was here for her? Immediately, she moved farther away from the car, but then it followed her. It honked for her to stop, and so she did. It's time she faces her fears; why will she run away when she clearly didn't do anything wrong? Suddenly, she saw a man coming out of the flashy car. Looking at his outfit, it was very well tailored and ironed. This man was huge with muscles, and his face somehow looked familiar for some reason. The only thing she could tell from the way he looked was that he was a Lycan, and Lycans are from...oh no! Did he stalk her?! Vega wasn't even given the time to be horrified at this realisation before the man in front of her introduced himself as Stanley. "The Lycan king requests your presence." Vega took a quick glance at this huge and tall guy in front of her. His height was just too intimidating for her even though she was quite tall. How much more for the Lycan king who was bigger? "Please tell your king I can't see him now." Vega said boldly without batting an eye. She refused to meet the fave of this Lycan because he made her look like a child talking to her big brother. "I won't be so quick to refuse if I were you, ma'am." Alpha Reynold must have known she would refuse when he asked him to pass this message to her. "The Lycan Alpha wishes to let you know that he hasn't told your sister about you yet." Vega froze. Was he threatening her now? How dare he use her sister to threaten her! "I'm waiting ma'am." Vega glared at Stanley before walking to the car. The beta smirked upon seeing how obedient Vega was at the mention of her sister. Surly, the Alpha knew how to handle these sisters. Vega kept getting very nervous as she was being taken to meet the Lycan king, she wasn't prepared for this at all. Well, since she had decided to face her fears, she could as well tell him to his face that he didn't scare her. "Where are we headed?" She asked Stanley out of curiosity. "To the hotel." "What! Why a hotel?" Vega asked in horror. Stanley quickly turned to face her, seemingly confused as to why she screamed that way. "Is there anything the matter, ma'am?" "Yes there is, and that is the fact that I'm not going into a hotel with him." Stanley couldn't contain his laughter hearing what Vega had just blurted out. This twin is surely a funny one. "Don't get things mixed up, look, I'm the King's beta, and he trusts no one not to tell your sister apart from me." "If you should view things logically, then you would understand why a private hotel is the best place for you." After hearing what the beta had said, Vega relaxed her mind, seeing that his explanations made sense. She must have sounded so ridiculous, judging from how hard he laughed at her, but could he blame her? He knew nothing about why she was horrified.
