Chapter 5
Irene’s POV
“That scumbag! That fucker!! We should track him down and take out his balls!!” Cassie growled through gritted teeth.
I closed my mouth with my hand as I struggled to hold back my laughter. Damn hell. What was Cassie saying for goddess’ sake?
She had been pacing angrily, venting when I finished telling her what had happened between Ryan and I.
“We should get your father to–” she faced me and I quickly straightened my face. “Are you finding this funny?” she asked, pouting.
I shook my head, keeping my eyes awkwardly fixed on hers. “Of course it’s not funny. I mean, Ryan was an asshole.”
Cassie nodded, narrowing her eyes on me. “Good. So when are we having his goddamn head on a platter?”
“Look Cassie,” I sighed and looked down at my fingers. Cassie pulled a stool and sat in front of me.
“What’s running in that pretty, little head of yours?” Cassie poked my temple with her index finger and I threw my head back, laughing. “Now, tell me when we will get revenge?” she finished.
I pressed my lips into a then line. “I don’t know when. Maybe never.” I shrugged.
“Never?!” Cassie gasped.
I licked my lips and started, “Everything that happened was a lot for me, Cas.” I heaved a deep breath. “I don’t want anything to do with Ryan for a second. I just want to move on and heal– and feel some true peace with my loved ones.”
Cassie bit her bottom lip, her fluffy cheeks, flushed. She looked as cute as a baby. “If that would give you peace and happiness. Then I’m all in for that.” She smiled and hugged me.
I melted in, basking in her warmth. I grinned. This felt so peaceful.
Cassie pulled back softly after a while. “I want to know everything. All that happened between you both, and–” she blinked.
That gleam in her eyes, I recognized that look. It was the same we had when we shared all our crazy life experiences together. When she told me a guy in her class looked at her, twice. When I told her about my first kiss.
I heaved. We kept no secrets from each other either. Those times, we were our own therapist. She knew what I needed at this point, telling her everything about Ryan would help me loosen up even more.
I raised a brow at her, and smacked my lips. “Just so you know, Ryan was not only petty and vengeful, he was also a complete fraud. Could you imagine that he wanted to trick me into adopting his biological son?”
“He’s wild. And he wasn’t even that smart to think the woman he spent years with would not recognize a younger version of him.”
My eyes narrowed. “Yeah. Ugh. For an Alpha, he was pathetic and weak–” I shifted closer to her and cupped my mouth, whispering. “In bed.”
Cassie gasped. “Oh damn,” she grabbed her chest and I giggled. She raised her hand and held up her pinky finger, measuring it. “Was he this small?”
I burst out laughing. “Cassie, you are crazy. How would you say that about the poor man,” I joked.
Cassie shrugged. “It’s not my fault, seeing he was so poorly skilled in the bedroom.”
I heaved, licking my lips as I locked eyes with her. That was so relieving. Cassie was the best. What would I do without her?
I tilted my head to the side, and bit my bottom lip. “Thank you.” She pulled me into a hug and she patted my back.
“You’re beautiful, Irene. You would get a second chance at love. You could get a deserving man, like the Lycan King, you know.” she said and pulled away
An image of the Lycan King I had seen in the magazine flashed through my mind, but I shook it off immediately. I can’t even think of that.
But maybe, Cassie was right about the second change thing. But I really don’t want to talk about romance right now.
“We should go out. Go shopping. Mate hunting, whatever. Just to relax,” Cassie chipped in.
My jaw dropped. “Fine, we can go out. But mate hunting. What have you been up to while I was away? You used to feel shy to even think of males, girl.”
Cassie shrugged, she paced my room for a bit, then stopped at my window. “Things have been fine. I have been a good girl, I swear. I only had some rough times with–” her voice faded.
What happened?
I rushed to my feet and was by her side in a second. “What’s the matter, Cassie?”
She breathed out heavily, turning away with her head down. Her shoulders were hung and her ears were red. Something was eating her up.
I grabbed her arms and shook her softly, she looked up at me, and I pressed on, “Tell me, Cas.”
She gulped. “There are a few arrogant she-wolves. They keep giving me trouble, everywhere.”
I furrowed my brows, balling my fist as rage surged through my bone. How dare those bitches even think of troubling my Cas?
Cassie pinched my cheek. “You don’t have to worry, Irene. I could take care of it. I’m sure they will back off when they see they can’t break me.”
Yeah. How about I break their necks? I would get my hands on them soon and I would settle the scores my own way.
I feigned a smile at her. “Let me quickly freshen up, so we could head out.” Cassie nodded and I winked at her before I entered the bathroom.

“We should get a pretty dress for you.” Cassie pulled me inside the boutique.
I groaned. “We should go to the restaurant first. I don’t need a dress anyways.”
“Of course, you do. Are you going to wear an old dress to the surprise welcome- home party Alpha Gavin was planning for you?”
My jaw dropped as I gawked at her and she froze, reddening as she realized she just let it slip. Dad was preparing a surprise for me. Woah, great.
“Shit… I said too much, didn’t I?”
I laughed at her. “You sure did, but I promise not to tell my Dad that you just ruined his surprise. Now come on, I need to pick the best dress.”
She followed me quietly, she was quite funny with that look. I picked my dress and I tried it out.
“Irene, you look like the moon goddess in that dress.”
I rolled my eyes. “Flattery.”
“No… I mean you have a really great fashion sense, Irene.”
I smiled. “Well, you are right and that is why I picked this dress for you.” I threw a dress at her, she kissed my cheek, appreciating, then she rushed to change.
“Irene,” she called softly.
I turned and my jaw nearly fell to the ground. Cassie looked like a princess from some fairytale. The golden sequence fabric made her pale skin glitter. The bodycon dress clung to her skin, accentuating her beautiful and full curves.
“Wow!” I exclaimed.
‘Hey, fat soul.”
My brows dropped, I turned to see Amanda, a bitch in the pack and her crew, Tara and Lyra. Amanda crossed her arms over her chest as she eyed Cassie.
“That doesn’t look good on you, Fat soul. Take it off and hand it over, now!”
I felt a pressure in my chest as my blood boiled, I wanted nothing but to pounce on them.
