DEREK’S POV I ran my fingers through my hair, staring down at the papers before me, the papers - I must admit - have seen better days. I have spent long hours in my office going through every file and document, searching and checking to see if I could find some money lying around, maybe a missed calculation or something that could bring up any money. The $3 million compensation Eliza demanded was an unbearable burden that has kept me up at night coupled with the fact that the financial auditor wouldn’t let me rest till the money was paid to the last penny. I stood up from my seat and began pacing, paper in hand, rereading what I was certain I'd read more than three times. Not finding anything, I tossed the paper on the table, walked to my makeshift bar and poured myself a glass of whiskey.
