Chapter 106 A Ripple in the Calm
Katelyn’s POV
The morning sun was soft and golden, streaming through the blinds as I stood in front of my closet, trying to decide what to wear.
I wanted something casual but presentable and comfortable enough for a summer outing but still tidy in case we took pictures.
In the end, I settled on a flowy white blouse and denim shorts, pairing them with sandals and my favorite sunhat.
Just as I finished tying my hair into a loose braid, the doorbell rang. I peeked out the window, Brian’s car was already parked outside.
“Let’s go, Lucas!” I called, grabbing our bag and water bottles.
Lucas came bounding down the stairs, already wearing his swim trunks under a loose T-shirt. “Beach day!” he shouted, spinning around like a whirlwind. “Is Brian here already?”
I laughed. “He’s waiting outside.”
Lucas practically threw the door open, waving excitedly at Tessa who peeked out shyly from the back seat.
Brian stepped out to help load our things and greeted me with his usual gentle smile.
