Lately, my days have blurred into a continuous stream of deadlines, numbers, and innovation pitches.
The transformation of the magazine had gone from a tentative plan to a full-blown operation.
As chief editor of one of the city’s oldest financial publications, I’d known the change was inevitable.
Print was no longer enough, readers wanted content on their phones, their tablets, in ten-second clips or live-streamed interviews with stock analysts.
The pressure wasn’t just heavy, it was constant.
I had to oversee the content calendar, retrain a handful of stubborn print journalists, negotiate new digital rights, and manage anxious board members watching our metrics like hawks.
That day had been no different.
By the time evening hit, I was still in the office, heels off under my desk, reviewing final layouts and chatting with two reporters about content ideas for our upcoming investment literacy series.
When I glanced at the clock and saw it was 8:30 PM, my eyes widened.
