Chapter 132 Bound by Silence
Katelyn’s POV
The gunshots rang out like thunder, echoing across the vast dry fields as dust swirled violently through the broken air.
I ducked down in the back of the SUV, my hands trembling as I pressed my body tightly to the floor, trying to make myself as small and invisible as possible.
The driver had gone pale, his hands shaking slightly as he gripped the wheel, muttering something under his breath in a language I didn’t understand.
Another shot cracked through the air, this one even closer than before.
“We can’t stay here,” the driver hissed, his voice low but sharp with urgency. “We need to turn off the main route.”
He slammed the car into reverse, the wheels spinning wildly as he tried to maneuver us away from the gunmen.
The vehicle jolted and swerved violently, the engine groaning in protest as we bounced over uneven terrain.
I held onto the seat leg, my heart pounding in my chest so hard I could barely think.
Out the window, I could see them, three armed men in dusty scarve
