Carrie’s Point of View
I ate dinner with the other girls in silence. It consisted of nothing more than a turkey sandwich and a bottle of water, but we all took over an hour to eat. The other girls were probably exhausted from cleaning all day, but my mind was filled with thoughts that kept me distracted. I knew I shouldn't be thinking as freely as I was with Lucas just upstairs, I couldn't help it.
Over the past few days, I'd grown closer to the other girls. I would help them whenever I could, they would help me get around the house, and we would keep each other company. We never talked much, what with Lucas listening in constantly, but we grew to know each other without words.
Of course, I wanted to know more.
I knew it would be a while before we could plan our escape out of here, we could attempt at all before Lucas kills us. However, there is nothing I can do until then, so I might as well try to make life here bearable.
