Carrie’s Point of View As soon as Lucas left his room, I listened closely to the sounds of him leaving the house. I was surprised to even hear a car drive down the gravel pavement outside, away from the house. I listened to the soft rumbling of the car, wanting nothing more than its purr to help me drift off to sleep. Now that he was gone, all I wanted was to curl up in a ball and sleep. I recalled the things he said to me, and shivered at his cruelness.
