Meeting Amelia's gaze, a trace of surprise flickered through Michael's cold, dark eyes. Then, it vanished, leaving nothing but stillness.
"This is how I've always spoken. If it makes you uncomfortable, I'll apologize, but reality will stay as reality." His tone remained unbothered.
Amelia felt a tightness clog her chest. "Stop the car," she said. She couldn't stay in this space another second.
Cyrus was driving. Upon hearing her demand, he was uncertain what to do and instinctively glanced at Michael through the rearview mirror. Michael gave no response, leaving Cyrus at a loss.
"Ms. Warren, this isn't a place we can pull over." He had no choice but to answer her this way.
Amelia didn't want to make things difficult for him. After a brief pause, she said, "Then please stop at the next intersection."
Cyrus didn't answer. Just as he was debating whether to ask Michael for instructions, Michael said, "Are you throwing a tantrum?"
