Chapter 36
The private room in the bar was way too dim, so I flipped on the light.
The moment the room lit up, I saw Jackson’s face—clouded and unreadable. He was leaned back on the couch, eyes glued to his phone, clearly in a foul mood.
Next to him sat a gorgeous she-wolf—clearly out of her depth. She didn’t dare get any closer, but she also didn’t move away, like she couldn’t figure out what had triggered his sudden temper.
Something felt off. I waved my hand, signaling the others to clear out. “Everyone out. Now.”
They got the message and slipped out one by one, not wanting to get caught up in a pissed-off Alpha’s storm.
“Ms. Carroll, could you please head out as well? We can talk cooperation another time,” I added softly to the woman beside him, reaching a hand out to her.
She didn’t say a word, just gave Jackson a cautious glance, then stood and nodded slightly before walking out the door.
Once the room was finally empty, just Jackson and me, I stepped closer. “Alpha, what happened?”
