Chapter 6
"So affected!" someone commented suddenly, "She just stayed in the water for a few seconds and she needs to go to the hospital. She is putting on airs as a superstar!"
Karen gloated inside but she turned to explain for her. "Ronaim was in a bad mood these days. And the director didn't discuss the change of plot with her in advance. She must be feeling upset..."
Karen pretended to defense Ronaim, but in fact she made her in trouble again, suggesting that she was angry with the director, deliberately threw up her job.
"She is not happy to hear that Mr. Shaw is going to divorce her."
Jonah listened to these words, and his face darkened. "Shut up, all of you!"
He carried up the feeble Ronaim and hurried to the hospital.
When Nathan came over, he happened to see Ronaim was carried in Jonah's arms. Her head leaned against Jonah's chest. The two of them looked quite intimate. Something seemed to be ripped away from his heart and he felt hollow inside. He watched the car galloping away in a trance until Karen pulled his arm.
"Nathan, I'm done with shooting today. The doctor asked me to go back to the hospital for a check-up." Karen's voice was sweet, leaning against Nathan's arm and whispering, "My chest has been feeling uncomfortable lately."
"Karen, I'm sorry." Nathan gripped her hand and felt sad for her.
They had been play pals since childhood. He was supposed to marry Karen three years ago if nothing had gone wrong. However, he met Ronaim, the vicious woman. He married her, just to torture her, revenge her...For three years, he had not got the pleasure of revenge, but just made Karen, who he loved, suffer a great deal.
Karen smiled and said, "Nathan, the best thing for me is to give my liver to you. It made us one. Don't blame yourself again."
He hugged her, and then went with her to the hospital for a checkup, taking care of her as if she was made of glass.
Standing by the bed with the test report in his hand, the doctor looked serious. "Miss Joe, you have been quite weak. If you continue to bleed, the fetus may not survive. In addition, I have found that your embryo has caused some pressure on your liver. You have just been pregnant for a short period of time. It's rare to have this kind of case. I recommend that you stay in the hospital to have a comprehensive examination."
"Pressure to the liver?" Ronaim was surprised. "What do you mean?"
"The situation of fetus causing pressure to the organs usually happens when the fetus is above 28 weeks old. But you are only pregnant for sixth weeks. Ultrasound scan shows that your liver is being severely compressed." said the doctor seriously. "I can't make any judgment before you have a comprehensive check-up."
Karen finished the check-up in the hospital and was holding Nathan's arm and whispering to him lovingly when she suddenly saw Sean standing at the door of the ward. She said in surprise, "Well, why is Ronaim's assistant here? Oh, right, Ronaim fell into the water and asked Jonah to send her to the hospital. What a coincidence! She is at the same hospital."
Ronaim heard Karen's voice outside the room. She was shocked and frightened. "I know," she said to the doctor. "I'll have the check-up as soon as I can."
"Nathan, Ronaim is sick. Let's get in and see her." Karen opened the door to the ward and walked in. She seemed to be prepared for it. As soon as she got in, she looked around for the medical record with her shrewd eyes.
Jonah's expression was cold. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm Ronaim's friend; Nathan is Ronaim's husband. Can't we come to see her?" Karen said, widening her innocent eyes. "What's wrong with Ronaim? I've seen she keep vomiting these days. Does she have a stomach problem?"
Ronaim curled up under the quilt, her teeth clenched. 'The woman is asking that question for purpose!
Is she trying to tell Nathan about her pregnancy?'
