Chapter 10
Maya's POV
We’re almost at Red Crescent, and I couldn’t be more relieved. The tension in the car was unbearable, none of us had said a word in miles. Once we picked up the rental car, Lauren took the lead, guiding us toward our destination. She had used her mother’s credit card to rent it, and luckily, she looked enough like her to pass without raising suspicion.
Coming here was a smart move on Lauren’s part. We’d all heard about the attack five years ago; how the pack survived and came out even stronger. Red Crescent is unique. They not only allow vampires to live among them, but they’ve also formed a close bond with the coven next door. I can only hope their acceptance of other species extends to witches too.
