After hearing Sybil's words, Krystal tightened her grip on the phone. She forced herself to stay calm. "Cheryl's accident was because Rocky lost control. It had nothing to do with me."
"Really?" Sybil questioned her. "You're the one who told us not to call the cops, Krystal." She sighed and pressed further, "I still don't get why you didn't let us call the cops. You knew you couldn't afford to let the Wardolfs find out about this, right?"
After ending the call, Krystal wired the money.
She stared at the transfer record for a long time.
Sybil hadn't been all that bad to her. Back then, she was just a lost kid with nowhere to go. Sybil had taken pity on her, brought her back, and raised her.
