Aside from Jeremy and Calista, there was one more attorney present—Jamie Lopez.
Melody completely ignored Jeremy the entire time. As soon as Calista introduced Jamie, she got straight to the point.
"So, is there still any way we can help Jason?"
While Melody's tone was anxious, Jamie remained calm and composed. "I've gone through the details. It is possible to argue for a not-guilty verdict, but there's one major problem—there were no witnesses.
"According to the case file Calista gave me, the victim was a minor, and there's no direct evidence tying him to the criminal group."
Melody had already learned all of this when she visited the police station. After Jeremy said he would find a lawyer, she had passed along everything to him.
That was the real issue here. Even if everyone believed Jason was innocent, there was no solid proof. The group that tried to traffic him was experienced. The moment things went south, they'd scattered.
