Chapter 267

Tabitha's POV With Gloria covering my back, I nervously steered into the ultrasound room. On the surface, it looked like I accompanied her for the examination, but in reality, it was me lying on the bed, unbuttoning my clothes. The female doctor was very gentle. While checking on the baby, she reassured us, "Don't worry, the baby is in safe hands." Gloria chuckled from the side, "I owe Alpha Obadiah one more favor now." I felt grateful knowing how much effort she put into helping me. As the cold probe slid over my lower abdomen, I felt both nervous and anxious. I hadn't been very well for the past six months, and I even underwent a treatment six months ago. I was kinda worried that might have an impact on the baby. "Doctor, how is my baby?" I asked, anxiety creeping in. The doctor chuckled and replied, "At this early stage, it's hard to tell much, but from what I can see now, the gestational sac is of normal size, and there is no sign of an ectopic pregnancy. Everything's looking good, so chill out." "Thanks, doc." A weight was lifted off my chest. "No problem! Just make sure you maintain a good mood, eat more veggies and fruits, and don't forget your folic acid every day, okay?" the doctor advised me attentively. "Yeah, got it." I nodded eagerly. "Come back for a check-up when the baby's a bit bigger. And remember, avoid any vigorous activities, as the first three months can be risky," she reminded me. "Okay. I'll be careful," I answered earnestly. Knowing the baby was fine, I felt exhilarated. Gloria, seeing me so pumped, cracked a smile, too. "Look at you! It's been ages since I've seen you smile like this, grinning ear to ear. Now that you're gonna be a mom again, think before you act. Don't bother with Derek," Gloria reminded me half-jokingly. "I know. I gotta struggle to survive for my baby," I replied with a serious face. Gloria pulled me into a hug, her voice a bit choked up as she said, "Please take care of yourself. Don't get upset, keep smiling, and bring the baby to the world safe and sound. I'm looking forward to being the godmother." "I will. I promise," I answered, feeling warm and determined. "If you need anything, just call me. I'll always have your back." Gloria patted her chest, her tone firm. "Yeah, I know." I nodded, feeling extremely grateful. When we were embracing each other, there came a knock at the door. I turned my head, only to find a sharply dressed guy standing in the doorway with a bouquet of pink roses in his hand. "Did I come at a bad time?" His voice was gentle and polite. Gloria snarled at him, "Since you know, why the hell are you still standing here?" But when she recognized the visitor, her attitude immediately changed. "Oh, my beloved and charming boss!" She quickly wiped the tears from her face and then walked briskly to him. "Alpha Leopold, look at the flowers! You're making me blush." Gloria took the bouquet with a faux sheepish grin and muttered, "The bouquet must be heavy. I'm rather strong, so let me hold it for you." She grinned as she set the bouquet down on the cabinet inside, murmuring, "Good taste, man. Only the best flowers make a statement, though it's a bit difficult to unwrap it." Gloria's act made me burst into laughter. So this was her boss, whom she complained about all the time. Ever since I found out that Gloria chose to work for the Alpha of the Peak Pack instead of helping her dad manage the Guaiacwood Pack, I got curious about this guy. Noticing my gaze, Alpha Leopold finally looked over at me. I quickly wiped my tears, greeting him politely, "Hey there, I'm Tabitha, Gloria's friend. She talks about you a lot." "Oh? What nice things did she say about me?" he asked, looking intrigued. Seeing Gloria stiffen a bit, I smiled, "She said you're young and promising, with great leadership skills. You're our role model, and she respects you." Then I winked at Gloria, who breathed a sigh of relief.
