I sat in the car, parked five hundred meters from the wooden cabin Darius had mentioned. I had been here for ten minutes, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles turned white.
“I have information about your parents' death.”
Those words had been echoing in my head since yesterday. Ten years. It had been ten years since the accident took them from me. Ten years I had lived with wounds that never fully healed, with questions that never got answered.
And now Darius—the enemy I trusted the least—claimed to have information about it.
I shouldn't have come. Archer begged me not to go alone, even offering to follow me from a distance. Seraphina looked at me with worried eyes this morning, asking if everything was okay.
I lied to her. Told her it was just a routine business meeting.
