“Where did you get this?” I asked in a voice that was barely audible.
“It doesn't matter.”
“WHERE?” I shouted, jumping up from my chair so quickly that I fell backwards. Anger exploded inside me, the wolf inside me howling for blood.
Darius didn't move, staring at me calmly. “From the Council archives. There are people who keep secrets as insurance. Victor was one of them. Stupid, but lucky for me.”
I gripped the edge of the table, trying to control my racing breath. “I'll kill him. I'll—”
“And then what?” Darius cut me off. “You'll execute your own uncle? Reveal to the entire world that the Nightveil Pack—a pack that is respected, a pack that is trusted by the Council—was built on murder and family betrayal?”
His words stopped me. Because he was right.
If this truth came out, it wouldn't just be Victor who would be destroyed. The entire reputation of the Nightveil Pack would be tarnished forever. Other packs would question our integrity. The Council would no longer trust my lea
