Justin’s grin widened slightly, the tension between us easing once more. “Yeah, definitely unexpected. But hey, at least it gave us something else to think about.”
I laughed, feeling the last of the tension melt away. “True. Maybe we needed that awkward moment to lighten things up a bit.”
“Maybe,” Justin agreed, his smile more relaxed now. “I’ll, uh, leave you to finish up. I’ll be downstairs if you need me.”
“Thanks,” I said, appreciating how he was handling the situation. “I’ll be down in a minute.”
Justin headed back downstairs, and I took a moment to breathe and collect myself. Despite the awkwardness, I was grateful for the distraction. It reminded me that no matter how heavy things got, we could always find a way to laugh together.
