Chapter 26
Having had enough of Jeffery's nonsense, I laid down an ultimatum. "If you don't want everyone finding out what you did behind my back, take Douglas and Daphne home and don't show up again."
Jeffery had no choice but to bite back his comeback. He grudgingly spat out one last line.
"Sienna, you'll regret this."
Then, he left with the kids.
No sooner had they left than Clay showed up. He noticed the lingering stares from passersby and asked curiously, "Did something happen here?"
I didn't want to drag him into my mess with Jeffery, so I just shook my head. "It's nothing. It's getting late. Let's get moving."
Clay picked up on my reluctance and didn't press. But later, he quietly had his assistant, Robert Smith, look into it. When he found out the full story, he was annoyed. He told his men to keep an eye on the nearby area and make sure Jeffery didn't bother me again.
Meanwhile, Jeffery took Douglas and Daphne home. They cried the whole way, wanting me to go back with them.
