Liv’s POV
The drive back to Rose's place felt like it took forever. The low hum of the engine and the quiet between us was oddly comfortable.
I kept my hands folded in my lap, watching the city lights flicker past. The adrenaline from the night was slowly wearing off, and with it, my focus.
My thoughts drifted to everything—my work, Kaelon, Rose, the past few days—until we finally arrived in front of the apartment building.
The car slowed to a stop, and for the first time since the awkward drive began, I exhaled deeply.
Kaelon put the car in park, his eyes glancing over at me. “We’re here,” he said, his voice softer now, almost gentle.
I glanced at him, then back at the building. “Thanks for bringing me home. I really appreciate it.”
He didn’t say anything for a moment, just stared straight ahead. I wasn’t sure if he was trying to figure something out or if the silence was just his way of processing.
