"Fucking hell!" Brandon yelled out after hitting the ground hard from tripping on his own feet.
He pushed himself up, barely, and waited to see if his vision would steady enough for him to continue walking towards his car.
That last shot had been unnecessary, but he didn't regret it, even as he could barely walk or see straight. He heated Lauretta's calm voice in his mind as he repeated the words, "Brandon, promise me you'll stop drinking," She framed his face gently, her eyes scanning his face with the look of a sister who was worried for her brother.
"I promise." He had replied, with his fingers crossed behind him. Unfortunately for her, promises were also meant to be broken, just as much as they were meant to be kept. And he had decided to choose his favorite form of escapism over what Lauretta wanted.
