Scarlett's POV
"Would you let me leave?" I asked in return, my voice even but unguarded.
He tilted his head slightly, his eyes narrowing in that unnervingly calm way of his. A slow, knowing smile spread across his lips.
"If you did your research, little wolf," he said, voice low and deliberate, "you'd know that anyone who breaks their promise with me ends up with their corpses found in the wilderness. Torn apart. Forgotten."
I blinked.
Not because I believed he would do that to me—but because I believed he could.
He wasn't feared and respected by many for nothing.
He wasn't branded the strongest Alpha for no reason.
Many wolves were eager to bring him down and watch his downfall. He was hated because they feared what he was capable of.
