Chapter 921
Olivia gathered her thoughts and smiled helplessly while looking at the cheque in her hands.
She had no idea what Mr. M was thinking as he was so unpredictable.
‘What’s this hundred-thousand-dollar check for?’
…
In the afternoon, Olivia changed her clothes and sneaked out of the hospital when the kids were asleep and Mrs. Wallace was not in.
Meeting Ms. Watson again made her notice how haggard she had become; her hair was a mess and her eyes were dull.
“Ms. Watson?”
Hearing the voice, she looked up and immediately jumped out of the chair upon seeing Olivia. She knelt on the ground and bowed down in fear.
“Ms. James, I am begging you to please have mercy on me, would you?”
Olivia frowned. “Ms. Watson, you’ve violated the law. I don’t have a say in the consequences you’ll face.”
“I know that I am wrong. I will serve my time in jail obediently, but please don’t let someone else torture me, could you?”
Her tone was almost begging, which puzzled Olivia, so she turned her head and asked the prison guard, "What happened in the prison?" What's the matter? "
The prison guard shook his head. “Nothing. It’s common for people to fight in prison, it’s just how it is.”
Suddenly, Olivia felt someone hugging her leg, which shocked her. She wanted to get up but Ms. Watson somehow crawled under the table and grabbed her leg tightly as she begged.
“I am begging you, please, I really can’t stand this anymore. I promise that I will never hurt you again! They’re really scary, please have mercy on me, would you?”
The prison guard rushed over and was about to beat Ms. Watson with the baton before Olivia stopped him.
“What are you doing? She’s already afraid. How could you do that to her? Leave the room, please. I would like a word with her alone.”
The prison guard was unwilling but he still nodded. “Okay. You have ten minutes.”
Once he left, Olivia bent down, wanting to help Ms. Watson up, but she did not have enough strength with just one arm.
“Ms. Watson, can you please get up? I’m handicapped now, and I can’t pull you up with just one arm. If you continue to behave like this, I am leaving.”
Hearing this, Ms. Watson immediately picked herself up from the ground and grabbed Olivia’s hand. “Ms. James, you will save me, right?”
Olivia pointed at the chair opposite her. “Sit over there, and tell me why you drugged me and where you were planning to bring me. Then, tell me who’s behind all of this and why you listened to them.”
Hearing this, Ms. Watson looked at her and hesitated for a moment before sitting on the chair.
After a moment of silence, she finally said, “The lady of the Jameson family made me do it.”
“And?”
Ms. Watson gulped while looking at Olivia, and squeezed her hand tightly. "My sister has a congenital heart disease. Originally, because I was Dr. Lucas’s secretary, I had the privilege of arranging for my sister to stay in a single ward alongside receiving a 40% discount on her hospital fee. However, after I got fired, all benefits were canceled. The hospital fee is too expensive, so I could only transfer her to a worse hospital, where her condition continues to deteriorate. I still haven’t found a suitable heart donor, so I can only rely on medicine to support her. However, the cost is still just too expensive, and my sister’s health is only getting worse... So, I want to come back to find Dr. Lucas, hoping that he will look at my previous work performance and help me.”
That being said, she paused and clenched both her fists. “But he refused to!”
Olivia’s body shivered.
The fact that Ken refused the offer surprised Olivia.
“For you, for a woman like you, he fired me so casually and disregarded everything I had done for him in the past. I really hate you! I was wandering around downstairs in the hospital, wanting to get revenge on you... That was when I met Ms. Jameson.”
Ms. Watson looked up and stared at Olivia. “She said that she could help me. She could kill you and give me two hundred thousand dollars. Did I have a reason to reject the offer?”
