Chapter 936
A few days later, Olivia decided to let the two children go home first after finding out Dorothy had been arrested.
"Lyla and Sam, there's nothing wrong with your physical examination. Now that the danger's gone, follow Mrs. Simmons home and listen to her after you get home, got it?"
Lyla leaned against Olivia's arms and pouted. "Mommy, why aren't you going home with us?"
"My arm hasn't recovered. It will take a few days to remove the cast. After all, the hospital isn't a good place. Children can't stay here. Got it?"
Lyla nodded vaguely. "I want to have dinner with Mommy, Sam, and Uncle Fred."
Olivia raised her hand with a smile and rubbed Lyla's soft hair. "I will soon be discharged from the hospital and have dinner with you, but Uncle Fred may take a little longer."
"Okay, I can wait." With that said, the little one peeked at Olivia and muttered, "If only Daddy's here."
Before Olivia could speak, Sam beside her had already grabbed her.
"Lyla, be good."
Lyla glared at him angrily. "Sam, you've gone too far. You agreed to help me find my father, and now you chided me in front of Mommy."
"Lyla, I..."
Facing Lyla's accusation, Sam was a little at a loss and could not utter a word for a long time. In the end, he could only pitifully ask Olivia for help.
Seeing the two's interaction, Olivia thoughtfully took Lyla's hand and said, "Lyla, don't bully Sam. Look how flustered you made Sam."
Lyla blinked at Sam. "Sam, I'm sorry, but I can't help myself when it comes to my father."
Olivia looked, her heart filled with mixed feelings.
It was natural that a child longed for their father.
She explained and chided Lyla, but Lyla seemed obsessed with her father's existence.
'Do I have to find her a father?
'But I really can't accept John...'
Just then, Mrs. Simmons came in.
"Miss, Mr. Lucas has parked his car. Can we go now?"
Olivia nodded. "Yeah, sure."
She put on her shoes, told Lyla and Sam to take care of their things, and led Lyla out.
"I've sent Harry to send Lyla and Fred's things home, Mrs. Simmons. Did you get them?"
"Yes, I did, but the suitcases are a little damaged. Should we get some new ones?"
"We should have some daily necessities at home. Let's take them to buy the rest when I'm discharged from the hospital."
As she spoke, Olivia looked down at the two children and said to Mrs. Simmons, "It's going to be hard for you these days, Mrs. Simmons. These two little monkeys aren't easy to handle."
Mrs. Simmons waved her hands. "Miss, have you forgotten that I brought up you and Young Master Ian? Will I be afraid of two little monkeys? I'd be fine with two more."
Lyla raised her head and corrected, "Mrs. Simmons, I'm not a monkey. I'm obedient."
It was also true.
Lyla and Sam were considered the best-behaved of their age.
However, kids were kids. How could they be so obedient that they would not get into trouble?
As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, Lyla suddenly stopped. "Mommy, I forgot one thing. I have to say goodbye to a friend of mine."
With that said, she let go of Olivia's hand and ran toward the garden.
Olivia looked down and asked Sam with a dumbfounded expression, "Since when did she make friends in the hospital?"
"It must be the girl on the eighth floor with the congenital heart condition who takes a walk in the garden every day at this hour."
"Then let's look for them in the garden."
They saw a noisy crowd surrounding a spot not far away once they reached the garden.
Suddenly, they heard a familiar shrill voice. "I want to see Phoebe James! Ask Phoebe James to come and see me!"
