A cold and indifferent voice came from diagonally across the aisle.
Claire snapped back to reality.
She turned her head and met Julian’s eyes. Her face instantly flushed.
His sharp, blunt tone hit like a dagger, yanking her right out of her daze and throwing her straight into a frying pan—crispy on the outside, completely mortified on the inside.
“Sorry, it won’t happen again,” she mumbled, head lowered.
“Let’s hope so.”
Julian threw the words out flatly and looked away.
Claire felt like shrinking into the floor.
Across from her, Michael looked a bit uncomfortable too. Even he didn’t quite get why the boss was so annoyed—it’s not like she did anything terrible, just zoned out for a moment.
Come on, she just went through a major life mess. You can’t expect someone to bounce back that fast.
A moment later, the flight attendant came in to clear the breakfast trays and served coffee.
Julian only rested for about ten minutes before jumping right into a video conference.
