Chapter 1062 She Would Swiftly End the Connection
She regretted saving Joseph. Noah was one of her few friends, and he had never asked her for anything or sought her help. Chloe was his only obsession, and he still had not given up on her. Perhaps Zoelle should have tried harder to contact him earlier. If Joseph lost an arm, Noah would have an edge over him.
Noah chuckled and said, "When did I ever say I was giving up?"
"Then why did you marry Tiffany?" Zoelle asked.
If he was using Tiffany to test Chloe's reaction, what led him to continue the relationship with Tiffany after the test?
"It's just a marriage of convenience," Noah replied.
"I’ll be frank, Noah. Gary loves his sister dearly. He doesn’t really care about you manipulating him because you compensated him with money in the end, but Tiffany is different. You know her physical condition. She could die at any time. Every minute of her remaining time is precious. If you don't intend to take responsibility for her, it's better to break it off sooner rather than later. Tell her the truth and don't take advantage of her."
Temporarily using someone was one matter, but expecting Tiffany to be his pawn for the remainder of her limited time was a big no. It was unethical for him to toy with someone's life simply because they had feelings for him.
"Are you speaking up for her?" Noah asked indifferently.
"No," Zoelle replied, "I know myself very well. I'm not a saint. I'm just afraid you'll have to face the consequences. The law of cause and effect is very frightening."
This was the reason she never allowed herself to fall in love. While engaging in physical relationships with various men was acceptable to her, the moment they developed romantic feelings, she would swiftly end the connection. After all, she deeply believed that falling in love with someone would affect her luck, and she did not want that to happen.
Being of weak constitution right now, Noah should conserve his energy and stop using his brain so much as it might deteriorate his condition.
Noah looked ahead calmly. There was no emotion in his eyes as he said, "I'm not afraid to die."
"Don't be so pessimistic. Once I finish my current tasks, I'll go abroad to focus on researching a cure for spiral cancer."
After several recent encounters with Gary, she was certain that he had no use for Noah, so he changed his target to Tiffany. After all, Tiffany could provide cover for Noah, making everyone believe that he had turned over a new leaf and had given up on Chloe. However, his tone suggested something different from what the public believed. It seemed to her that he was planning something big.
Noah had no intention of continuing this topic. He gave a few more curt responses and hung up the phone. Zoelle felt a bit frustrated and considered calling him again to persuade him to change his mind. Tiffany was a good option. Life did not always go as planned, and finding someone who loved him might be better than chasing after someone he loved.
Before she could call Noah back, she got a call from Vince. She was stunned for a moment before accepting the call. "What do you want? I'm busy. Don't waste my time."
"Umm… I wanted to thank you for saving my life…"
Zoelle could almost visualize Vince hanging his head low like a big, guilty dog.
"No need to thank me. It's not free. Just remember to pay me."
"Sure, how much is it?"
