Chapter 1061 You Haven't Given Up on Chloe Yet?
About an hour later, Harold received a phone call. His face sank and he slammed the table in anger. "Escaped? What do you mean escaped?"
Chloe's ears perked up. Harold was talking so loudly that she could catch a few phrases. She could not sit still anymore and turned to look at him.
As soon as he ended the call, he said, "Xavia escaped."
"What?!" Chloe was taken aback. "How could she escape with so many people watching her?"
It was already infuriated enough that Otto had managed to slip away. Now that Xavia had managed to escape too, there was the possibility of life-threatening events happening again.
Harold's brows furrowed slightly. "There were a lot of people around, but most of them were heavily injured. After a fierce battle, it's normal that one can’t take care of everything. Of course, they were also being negligent."
Chloe was speechless. After pondering for a while, she sent a text to Callum. She requested that he issue a wanted order for Xavia and Otto throughout Docwood. Anyone who provided information leading to their arrest would receive a reward of 7,000 dollars, and those who revealed Xavia's hiding place and successfully captured her would be rewarded with 70,000 dollars. She also asked Callum to instruct the major hospitals to contact the Whitmans and the Sullivans if Otto came seeking treatment. She then reported Xavia to the police on suspicion of killing Bethany.
Callum readily agreed, and soon, the news of Xavia being a wanted criminal spread across the Internet, and Chloe read through the comments.
[Oh my god, what's happening? How did my idol become a wanted criminal?!]
[Delete the article now and stop spreading false rumors! I'll report you guys for spreading false information!]
[Yeah! Vee is gentle, lovely, and knowledgeable. After suffering through a failed relationship, she has finally gotten a new lease on life and is pregnant. She's emotionally sensitive right now. Stop being so harsh on her!]
[Guys, open your eyes. The article was issued by the government.]
[Ignore the fools. They're beyond saving.]
[All men are the same. They all think their idols are the purest existence in the world, but in reality, they’re god-knows how dirty and cheap behind the scenes.]
[Honestly, I get an outlaw vibe whenever I look at Xavia's face. She looks strangely scary sometimes.]
It had been three hours since Zoelle entered the operating room. Chloe clasped her hands together, hoping that Joseph's surgery would be a success. Jasper, who just arrived at the hospital, saw Chloe praying and joined her.
When Chloe saw this, she felt like crying. She crouched down, enveloped Jasper in her arms, and comforted him, "Your dad will be fine."
She had not wanted Jasper to know about Joseph's condition, but he somehow caught wind of the situation and took a taxi here on his own. Not knowing which floor or room Joseph was in, Jasper searched floor by floor until he found Chloe. When he learned that Joseph was in the operating room, his eyes turned red. However, he held back his tears as he did not want to worry Chloe.
Not long after, the door of the operating room opened, and Zoelle stepped out. She took off her mask and reported, "We managed to save the arm, but he has to stay in the hospital for observation."
She knew that the Whitmans had complete medical equipment at their house. Once Joseph was out of danger, he could go home.
Chloe's legs wobbled as her tensed muscles, which had been wound up the whole afternoon, finally eased. It had been a long day, but the silver lining was that everyone was safe in the end.
She sincerely expressed her gratitude to Zoelle, saying, "Thank you for everything. I’ll cover Joseph’s surgical fees and also the cost of Vince’s treatment.
Zoelle cocked an eyebrow and smiled. "Since you brought it up, I won't refuse. Thank you."
"Go home and rest."
"All right, see you later."
Zoelle yawned and waved at Chloe before entering the elevator. Suddenly, her phone started to vibrate and a hint of guilt flashed across her face. She took out her phone from her bag, and as expected, it was a call from Noah. There were more than a dozen missed calls as well, all from Noah.
Zoelle gulped nervously. After all, she just saved her best friend's rival. She picked up the phone while forcing herself to stay calm. "Noah?"
"Just done with Joseph’s surgery?" Noah asked.
Zoelle did not want to struggle anymore. She dryly chuckled and said, "You're really smart."
Noah did not reply.
"Are you mad?" Zoelle asked.
He remained silent.
"Noah? Are you there?" Zoelle asked again, but Noah still did not give any response.
Feeling aggrieved, Zoelle raised her voice and said, "What's going on? Don't give me the silent treatment. I was going to ask you about it, but you didn't answer my call.”
She had chosen to stand by him at first, but he missed the opportunity.
"I'm not blaming you," Noah said, his tone as calm as ever. "I'm thinking about what to do next."
Zoelle was stunned. "You haven't given up on Chloe yet?"
